The Associate Manager, MES Technical Deployment partners with site leaders through the execution of Newell Brands global MES strategy.  Assist the MES Technical Deployment Manager in ensuring the vertical startup, training, coaching, and skill development of Newell Brands standard Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Ignition. A key aspect will be development and deployment of global MES standards and policies for factories and DCs. The Associate Manager MES Technical Deployment will act as a subject matter expert and liaison with the Business Segments and other engineering disciplines in the deployment of Newell’s vision to leverages best in class technologies. This role will be the central resource across the organization to drive higher end-user acceptance, data quality, and satisfaction through defining best practice as well as enhancing existing processes.

 

The role will build an overall framework with the Business Segments to help with fabrication, operation, application, installation, maintenance and/or repair of MES systems and devices. Also, this individual will develop and define the application of appropriate technologies for custom or standardized initiatives.

 

Specific Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, standardization, and implementation of an MES user training program to include elements of coaching, support, and troubleshooting
  • Manage and assist, in partnership with Supply Chain leadership and sites, the business requirements for MES installations, upgrades, and integration projects
  • Build and maintain a global network of MES users and best practices
  • Build and maintain global standards and critical business requirements for Newell Brands configuration and customization to include screens, reports, and other interfaces.
  • Directly and indirectly partner with team members across the supply chain aligned with the global MES deployment strategy
  • Build and maintain the training plan on new functionalities and updates as part of the larger continuous improvement effort
  • Travel to project sites to lead the teams to troubleshoot, train and commission MES, network, and communication systems
  • Manage and develop analytics tools in MES platforms that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into equipment reliability, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics
  • Manage and execute Factory Acceptance Testing and Commissioning support of MES systems
  • Work with key stakeholders and vendors to ensure business requirements are effective translated into functional specifications

 

Key Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of Ignition MES experience and Gold certified
  • Experience influencing teams both directly and indirectly
  • Experience training teams on Ignition is an added advantage
  • Experience with Ignition integrations to non-MES solutions (ERP, CMMS, etc.) is an added advantage
  • Strong character – ability to champion the right decision in difficult situations
  • Demonstrated track record of effectively building partnerships as well as managing and resolving challenges
  • Mid-level level skills developing analysis in Excel, PowerBI, PowerPoint and/or MS Access
  • Strong planning & organizing skills. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously
  • Initiative & follow-up, including a strong sense of autonomy
  • Ability to travel up to 50% to factory and distribution center locations across the US and with a possibility of Internationally
  • Experience with ANSI/ISA-95 and Industry 4.0,5.0 concepts
  • Strong knowledge of programming software packages such as Wonderware, Rockwell, Intellution, GE Cimplicity, Ci-Tech, Iconics, Siemens, US Data, etc.
  • Proficient in Postgre and Microsoft SQL server
  • Experience with MES systems: Ignition, Factory talk, OpsCenter, Vorne, Mattec, etc.
  • Experience with testing procedures
  • Ability to lead large and complex projects in line with the global MES strategy
