The Front-End Innovation (FEI) Consumer & Shopper Insights Manager / Sr. Manger will play a key role within the business FEI team. Working collaboratively with their multi-functional POD partners, this individual will Identify opportunity spaces, recognize insights of truths & tensions, assess appeal and market potential, and craft and execute consumer learning plans to fuel sustainable category growth via expanding and/or transforming the market. 

 

They will be responsible for uncovering deep human truths, understanding behavior and motivations, monitoring trends and synthesizing this information into actionable and meaningful insights that the team can use. This position will guide ideation, WHO understanding, gather data and craft research needed to answer the team’s critical questions at each stage, and help build the business model, including the volume estimates/forecasts.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES

Functions and duties of this role include, but are not limited to:  

  • Lead the landscaping and innovation ideation process to guide and fuel the broader innovation strategy and create a sufficient funnel of FEI innovation ideas and programs.
  • Develop and execute consumer learning plans for each FEI stage to address critical questions and success criteria.
  • Lead WHO hypothesis and understanding for FEI projects.
  • Lead the idea/concept development development process including designing ideation workshops and screening processes.
  • Lead the strategic target hypothesis and understanding, critical assumption development, and business model thinking; Work with Industrial Design to define inspirational Design Targets
  • Lead research that provides critical volume forecast input elements and then volume assessment thinking from early estimate to robust forecasts.
  • Bring critical insights and consumer/WHO to life for business partners and stakeholders to enable improved consumer-driven decision making.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:   

  • Manager level: 5+ years of experience in Insights with 3+ years in innovation in CPG
  • Sr. Manager level: 8+ years of experience in Insights with 3+ years in innovation in CPG
  • Experience synthesizing a wide range and types of data to derive insight, themes, and important indicated actions.
  • Proven track record of uncovering insights and helping build a high consumer IQ among the team.
  • Experience with a wide range of traditional and emergent market research tools (qualitative, observational, quantitative, AI mining, transactional learning and simulated test markets, as well as comfort with unstructured data, syndicated data, etc.)
  • Experience with supporting business model development and strong forecasting fluency
  • Experience with in-context learning, iterative learning, test & learn experiments.
  • Proven track record of working successfully cross-functionally across R&D, Marketing, Design and Finance.
  • Experience assessing and selecting suppliers and methodologies and managing research partners through project sprints.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort advocating for the consumer/shopper, and conveying feeling and meaning to others, including senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience with navigating ambiguity and adapting learning, forecasting, and landscaping as new information emerges.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, with proven experience with rapid, hypothesis-based iterative learning and testing. 
  • Has a curious, agile, and “whole-brain” mindset.   

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

A collaborative, small, dedicated innovation team comprised of multi-functional experts. Co-located with POD members in Atlanta.
