Job Overview:
The e-Commerce Key Account Manager APAC will lead our strategic expansion across two of the region's fastest-growing e-commerce markets: China (Taobao, JD, Tmall 70% time allocation) and Korea (Coupang, 30% time allocation). You will drive market share, sales, and profit gains across all Rubbermaid Commercial Products categories while building on established momentum in these critical channels.
The role collaborates across Sales, Brand Building and Brand Commercialisation, Finance, Legal, Customer Service and Supply Chain, and with our brand-protection agency partners.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience running marketplace businesses on China's major platforms and in the Korean e-commerce landscape, strong financial acumen, and the analytical and interpersonal skills to lead distributors without owning the transaction. Candidates should be comfortable with numbers, fluent in the promotional mechanics of JD, Taobao, Tmall and Coupang, and motivated by building a best-in-class digital shelf for a premium B2B brand.
Job Responsibilities:
- Take full ownership of the China and Korea e-commerce customer strategy, annual plan and performance; know the budget and deliver against yearly, quarterly and monthly finance targets.
- Own the platform relationships with JD, Taobao, Tmall and Coupang – including platform and distributor co-op, commercial terms discussions, and the platform-specific promotional calendars (e.g. JD campaign cadence, Coupang WOW Day).
- Create and deliver long-term Joint Business Plans (JBPs) to plan for and unlock sustainable, profitable growth across all platforms
- Coordinate execution through authorised distributors: build long-term joint business plans (JBPs), align ranging, listings and availability, and performance-manage distributors against agreed KPIs to unlock sustainable, profitable growth.
- Ensure distributors carry the optimal SKU listing for their customer base, matched to RCP's key strengths, and lead platform-specific assortment decisions – including e-commerce NPD and locally sourced range as it becomes available.
- Partner with the Brand Commercialisation team to develop SKU bundling recommendations, define the right product assortment for each platform, and build the promotional and campaign plans behind them.
- Work with Brand Building to identify key range gaps and feed e-commerce insight into the NPD funnel for new product development.
- Closely work with the China & Korea sales leads to drive incremental sales whilst supporting channel management strategies designed by the respective sales leads
- Activate the Rubbermaid® Consumer range across the channel, ranging the right consumer SKUs alongside the commercial portfolio without diluting RCP's premium position.
- Establish and enforce pricing governance across all storefronts to protect RCP's premium position and prevent channel conflict; monitor for unauthorised listings and infringements, and coordinate takedowns with Legal and the brand-protection agency.
- Build and run the always-on demand engine: paid search, campaign and promotion plans across platforms, managing allocated A&P spend for efficient ROI.
- Deliver a best-in-class digital shelf with the Brand Commercialisation team – PDP quality, A+ content, search rank, ratings and reviews – and continually improve the online customer experience on distributor and platform storefronts.
- Set up and track sales-in and sell-out (platform EPOS) data; own the monthly sales walk, and improve demand forecasting and product availability with distributors and Supply Chain.
- Launch NPD and new range on time, with launch content, promotion and distributor sell-in plans in place.
- Prepare the JD self-operated (direct) pilot: trading terms, replenishment cadence across JD's distribution centres and sell-through management; run it once approved, protecting gross margin through the transition.
- Analyse business performance and market data to identify opportunities, target specific end-user verticals and offset risk; use data to inform decisions, particularly for communications and end-user pipeline activities.
- Develop coordinated promotional plans that maximise ROI and digital sales outcomes across platforms.
- Share brand and category knowledge with distributors and platforms to pitch and land additional assortment and marketing opportunities.
- Build and negotiate commercial agreements and premium marketing placements.
- Travel regularly across China and Korea to meet distributors, platforms and customers face to face and conduct in-market business reviews.
- Support ad hoc projects and priorities as directed by the Regional Commercial Head.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum five years' direct, hands-on e-commerce and key account management experience in a large international company in B2B, CPG/FMCG or consumer durables.
- Full, demonstrable experience dealing with China's major platforms – JD and Taobao/Tmall (1688 an advantage) – is essential, including storefront operations, platform commercial terms and promotional mechanics. Korea marketplace experience (Coupang) is preferred.
- Deep knowledge of marketplace operations and web-store performance optimisation: storefront management, paid search and ROAS, content and PDP optimisation, and platform promotional mechanics.
- Experience working with and through distributors – JBP development, KPI management and channel governance – rather than direct-only models.
- Experience analysing EPOS, platform and market data; budgeting, cost estimating and optimising online marketing spend with an emphasis on efficient ROI.
- Understands P&L and financial KPIs, including gross-margin management across distributor and direct (platform self-operated) models.
- Demonstrated, evidence-based, data-driven decision making.
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint capabilities; comfortable with data-visualisation and business-intelligence tools; highly detail-oriented, with the ability to manage complex, overlapping priorities across multiple markets and stakeholders.
- Comfortable working across time zones, with remote collaboration and matrix reporting.
- Language skills: fluent Mandarin Chinese and English essential, both verbal and written. Business-level Korean strongly preferred.
