An Area Lead is a “Master” of their area. They need to be capable of training, trouble shooting and leading their area. Areas may include Retail Picking, Loading, Imports, Track 1, Autostore, Inbound 1 etc. Areas will have employees broken down into smaller teams to manage and will be responsible for that team getting the work completed for the day.  

Area Lead Responsibilities:

  • Good communication
  • Excellent in trouble shooting.
  • Willing to be mobile on the production floor instead of stationed at the desk.
  • Filter from Squad leads to Specialist.
  • Responsible for their area’s workload to be completed on time for the day.
  • Bring up issues and concerns that are happening on the floor.
  • Engage in conversations with the employees about Labor Management and their performance.
  • Become engaged with PEAK on the floor to develop and fix ongoing issues.
  • Be a leader and lead by example.
  • Take ownership in area, squad leaders and members to ensure teams stay strong and productive or if teams need change.
  • Team player within the shift and between the shifts
  • Has good attendance and is accountable

 

 

Safety/Housekeeping:

  • Safety focus – Drive to improve safety performance, ensure safety rules/practices and good housekeeping is followed.
  • Ensure that all housekeeping and 6S audits are conducted daily. Target 6S rating to exceed 90%.
  • Maintain clean and orderly work area.
  • Maintain clean and orderly equipment and report any safety concerns on the rides.

 

EXPERIENCE/EXPERIENCE:

  • HS/GED required, and 2 or more years of related experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities; previous leadership experience is an asset.
  • Experience in distribution/logistics/warehouse preferred.
  • Team oriented, self-motivated, and positive attitude.
  • Good communication both written and verbal.
  • Ability to plan work daily and be self-motivated.
  • Requires flexibility to changing priorities based on shipping and production department needs.
