Associate Buyer, Flagship Store
Job Type: Full-Time
Primary Location: Hybrid role requiring 3 days per week on-site at Yankee Candle Village, South Deerfield, MA.
Job Summary
The Associate Buyer supports the Buying & Merchandising team in the planning, execution, and performance analysis of merchandise assortments for assigned specialty retail categories. This role partners closely with the Buyer and cross-functional teams to drive sales, manage inventory, and deliver a compelling in-store guest experience.
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Buying & Merchandising, this role is ideal for a detail-oriented, analytical, and highly organized professional who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment and is eager to grow within the buying function. Key areas of focus include weekly performance analysis and action, inventory management and ordering, and supporting daily needs of the buying team.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Specific responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Support the Buyers in managing assigned product categories to achieve sales, margin, and inventory productivity goals.
- Analyze weekly and monthly sales reports; identify trends, risks, and opportunities and provide actionable insights.
- Assist in assortment planning, SKU setup, and product lifecycle management.
- Execute purchase orders to maintain appropriate inventory levels and support sales demand.
- Monitor inventory levels, track open-to-buy, and help manage markdown and promotional strategies.
- Coordinate with vendors on order placement, delivery schedules, product details, and issue resolution.
- Maintain accurate product data, pricing, and system records in ERP systems.
- Support vendor onboarding documentation and assist with vendor communication and follow-up.
- Conduct competitive research and trend analysis to provide assortment recommendations.
- Prepare reporting and presentation materials for assortment reviews and internal meetings.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting accuracy, process efficiency, and cross-functional communication.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, Retail Management, or related field preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in retail buying, merchandising, planning, or related retail experience.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data and identify key insights.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with SAP or similar retail systems preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborative team player with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
- Interest in retail trends, merchandising, and product development.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and decisive with a strong sense of ownership and urgency.
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Commitment to ethical business practices and positive working relationships.

The Massachusetts base pay range for this position is from $80,600- $98,550. Salary will be based on prior experience related to the skills required for this position.
