Role Description
Newell Brands is seeking a Financial Analyst join our dynamic team supporting the Home Fragrance business unit, encompassing the Yankee Candle, WoodWick, and Chesapeake Bay brands. This is a high-impact role that will will partner cross-functionally with Brand, Sales, and Operations, with primary responsibilities on new product development and brand performance management. The Finance team provides data-based actionable insights through financial modelling and the development and enhancement of decision tools to ensure delivery of revenue, margin, profit, and strategic goals.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Financial Analyst, together with the Manager of Brand & Commercial Finance, will provide decision support for the business unit, including: new product development, scenario and sensitivity analysis, spend effectiveness and optimization, and annual planning and performance.
- New Product Development: Ensure financial viability and sustainability of future product portfolio through cross-functional partnership with brand marketing, sales, and operations for both domestic and international team – including pricing, margin, and revenue forecasts.
- Post-Initiative Evaluations: Support a learning and continuous improvement culture by conducting after action review on new product launches, marketing investments, and trade spend. Identify lessons and provide recommendations for future spend.
- Reporting & Accessibility: Develop financial acumen and accessibility across the home fragrance division through enhancement of standard reporting including customer and Brand P&Ls, unit economics, product line performance.
- Peformance & Variance Analysis: Conduct monthly variance analysis across revenue, margin, and fixed expenses to identify key performance drivers and provide insights.
- Ad Hoc Reporting & Analysis: Support the Finance team and business partners as needed; foster positive and collaborative partnerships across the organization.
This role primarily supports the Brand Marketing and US Wholesale teams, with stretch opportunities available to partner with the Owned Channels team.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance related study preferred (e.g., Finance, Economics, Analytics)
- 0-3 years of progressive responsibility in Finance or Analytics, preferably in CPG
- Broad business acumen and experience supporting cross-functional teams
- Advanced Excel skills (financial modelling, scenario and sensitivity analysis)
- Prior experience with brand and commercial finance (volume/price/mix, marketing ROI, promo effectiveness) preferred
- Experience with SAP, PowerBI preferred
- Consumer and customer-focused mindset, able to balance growth and productivity goals
- Comfort with ambiguity and ability to partner with high level direction
