Newell Brands is seeking an experienced Senior Copy Manager to lead our Content Team and drive compelling, brand-aligned storytelling across a diverse portfolio of iconic consumer goods brands, including Graco, Baby Jogger, Crock-Pot, Calphalon, Rubbermaid, Marmot, Coleman, Sharpie, Elmer’s, and more.
This role will focus on our Home Fragrance brands—such as Yankee Candle, WoodWick and Chesapeake Bay—making a background or strong interest in home goods and/or beauty & fragrances highly desirable. The Senior Copy Manager will be the driving force behind our brand voice, crafting and executing strategies that shape how our products connect with consumers across every touchpoint. This role demands more than just oversight—it requires a visionary leader who can inspire, refine, and elevate our messaging to new heights.

Key Responsibilities:
Content Strategy & Execution
- Define and implement a strategic vision for product copy and brand editorial across all relevant categories.
- Develop, refine, and uphold brand voice and messaging guidelines to ensure consistency across all channels, including eCommerce, retail, social media, and brand sites.
- Support the Director, Creative in developing an effective brand tone of voice and ensuring its application across all consumer touchpoints.
- Oversee the editorial strategy and execution for the business segment, ensuring excellence from project initiation through asset delivery.
- Evaluate and optimize the content of creative briefs, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and complexity of projects or campaigns.
- Leverage SEO best practices, web analytics insights, and consumer engagement data to maximize content impact.
- Collaborate with Legal to maintain compliance and protect brand/corporate intellectual property.
Creative Leadership & Innovation
- Achieve bold outcomes by providing a clear vision, direction, and strategic planning for all copy and content initiatives.
- Lead brainstorming sessions to generate creative ideas, fostering an environment conducive to best-in-class content development.
- Develop and lead meetings, ensuring productive discussions and actionable outcomes.
- Partner closely with Marketing, Design, and Operations teams to develop cohesive content strategies.
- Work directly with both internal and external partners in a fast-paced, high-volume environment to ensure timely and impactful content delivery.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of writers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance creative culture.
- Set clear objectives, manage team workflows, and prioritize projects to ensure efficiency and quality.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and support professional growth opportunities.
- Recruit, interview, and onboard new talent as needed.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Project Management
- Collaborate in developing stakeholder briefs and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional partners.
- Partner with Marketing and Retail teams to develop content roadmaps and action plans.
- Manage content roadmaps, project timelines, and stakeholder expectations to meet business goals.
- Advocate for innovation in content strategy, identifying new storytelling opportunities and digital engagement tactics.
Key Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in editorial, copywriting, or content strategy roles, with 3-5+ years of team management experience.
- Strong background in digital content, eCommerce, and omnichannel marketing.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with a proven ability to craft compelling, brand-aligned narratives.
- A strategic thinker who can translate business objectives into engaging consumer messaging.
- A collaborative, solutions-oriented leader adept at both creative thinking and project management.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and inspire stakeholders across various teams and geographies.
- Enthusiasm for leading meetings, brainstorming sessions, and cross-functional collaborations.
- Adept at presenting ideas and strategies to leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience or strong personal interest in home goods, and/or beauty & fragrance is a plus.
