Job Summary:

The Senior Associate, Field Sales is responsible for strengthening in-store sales execution and driving sustainable business growth across key retail partners, primarily Akachan Honpo (AH) and Toys“R”Us (TRU). As a member of the Sales team, this role focuses on increasing sales performance, market share, and brand visibility through effective retail execution, field intelligence, and close collaboration with account teams.

The incumbent serves as a critical link between the field and head office, collecting timely market, customer, and competitor insights and translating them into actionable recommendations that improve store performance and commercial outcomes. This role requires strong communication and analytical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while identifying business opportunities and resolving execution challenges.

In addition to supporting current priority accounts, the position is designed to build the commercial capability, customer management expertise, and strategic account leadership experience necessary to assume future head-office account management responsibilities for major retail partners, including Aeon and Nishimatsuya.

Job Requirements:

  • Increase sales volume, share, and brand visibility through strong in-store merchandising and promotional execution at AH and TRU stores.
  • Plan and execute store visits based on commercial priorities, sales opportunities, promotion calendars, and field support needs.
  • Use POS results, store conditions, customer feedback, and competitor activity to recommend practical actions that improve sell-out.
  • Build the commercial knowledge and customer understanding needed to take future responsibility for Aeon and Nishimatsuya headquarters.
  • Lead high-quality store execution by coaching and supporting sales staff, store leaders, distributors, and internal account teams.
  • Collect accurate field information on displays, inventory, shopper reactions, competitor products, pricing, and promotions, and share it with Sales HQ.
  • Create repeatable field practices and communicate successful examples to improve execution quality across stores.
  • Provide hands-on support during major promotions, new product launches, events, and periods requiring additional field help.
  • Identify store-level and customer-level issues early, distinguish root causes, and define practical corrective actions with relevant stakeholders.
  • Integrate multiple sources of information to make timely, balanced, and commercially sound decisions.
  • Anticipate customer needs and operational risks before they become obstacles to sales execution.
  • Manage multiple concurrent tasks while maintaining clear priorities, ownership, deadlines, and follow-through.
  • Build trusted relationships with AH and TRU store personnel, area managers, account teams, and Sales HQ through clear and respectful communication.
  • Communicate field facts, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions concisely to managers and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Influence store execution and internal follow-up through fact-based proposals, active listening, and constructive coordination.
  • Share timely market, shopper, and competitor insights that support customer strategy and sales decisions.
  • Develop strong knowledge of Newell products, baby-category shoppers, retail operations, merchandising standards, and store promotion practices.
  • Use Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and agreed Sales HQ tools to record field findings, organize tasks, and prepare clear reports.
  • Continuously improve account management, data interpretation, negotiation, and problem-solving skills for future head-office responsibility.
  • Take ownership of personal development and apply learning to measurable improvements in field execution.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical business experience.
  • 3-7 years of sales experience in retail, distribution, consumer goods, or field execution.
  • Experience supporting store promotions, merchandising, product launches, or sales events.
  • Experience collecting field information and converting it into recommendations or action plans.
  • Experience with baby products, Japanese retail, or manufacturing-company sales is preferred.
  • Head-office account support or key account management experience is preferred.
  • Working proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Teams for field reporting, analysis, and stakeholder communication.
  • Ability to interpret POS data, store conditions, customer feedback, and competitor information.
  • Valid driver’s license and able to drive for sales activities.
