Job Summary:

 

Ensures the safety and security of all Yankee Candle assets, employees and guests.  Aids in the investigation of accidents and incidents, including theft, drugs and safety along with human resources and local as well as state law enforcement.  Security staff are considered essential and are on duty regardless of weather conditions.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Responsible for maintaining a safe and secure corporate campus for all employees and guest by monitoring movement of both through CCTV, DVR and Access Control Equipment. In addition, conducts random vehicle and foot patrols of all Yankee Candle Company buildings and property 24/7.
  • Conducts interviews with witnesses, gathers pertinent information regarding accidents and incidents.  Participates in higher level investigations and terminations involving theft, drugs and safety in conjunction with Human Resources. 20%
  • Responsible for routine inspections of sprinkler systems/fire gauge readings, fire extinguishers for each facility monthly, as well as testing fire pumps on a weekly basis and quarterly inspections of these systems with outside vendors. 20%
  • Routinely responds to medical emergencies, fire and burglary alarms.  Responsible for Transporting (checks/cash) to the bank and confidential financial information between buildings. 20%
  • Maintains reports of a confidential nature including medical emergencies, employee and guest complaints, employee terminations/suspensions, security of all Yankee Candle Company premises. 20%
  • Issues appropriate access control level for all employees temporary, full time and seasonal by updating access control system, making badges, issuing keys to appropriate staff and maintaining records of such as well as terminating access upon suspension or terminations. 10%
  • Conducts Safety Training for all outside contractors and vendors; maintains up to date spreadsheets on all approved contractors/vendors for onsite approval. 5%
  • Assist in the evacuation in the event of an emergency; liaison in charge of maintaining the call-in log and updating the phone in event of shift cancellations due to weather or other emergencies as directed by a member of EC.  Contacts the appropriate person /persons in the event of a power outage.  5%

 

Qualifications:

 

  • High School Diploma
  • 1-2 years of related experience  
  • Certification from the M.C.J.T.C. Reserve/intermittent Police Officer Academy or equivalent required. 
  • First responder and CPR certification, valid driver’s license required.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills, public relations, and general administrative skills.  Ability to work with confidential information and situations.
  • Typical Retail, Manufacturing, Logistics and Office Environment. Physical ability to restrain confrontational employees and guest as needed.
