Basic Scope & Purpose

 

The HR Generalist serves as a trusted partner to leaders and employees within the manufacturing and distribution environment, supporting the execution of Human Resources programs and processes with a primary focus on the hourly workforce. This position is responsible for administering and supporting talent acquisition, onboarding, employee relations, investigations, policy administration, employee engagement initiatives, performance management processes, leave administration, and HR compliance activities.

The HR Generalist collaborates closely with Human Resources Business Partners and business leaders to deliver HR services that support organizational objectives, employee engagement, workforce development, operational effectiveness, and the successful deployment of Newell's cultural and operational excellence initiatives, including PEAK and SEAL.

  • Partner with site leadership to promote and sustain Newell's PEAK culture by supporting employee engagement, accountability, continuous improvement, and performance excellence initiatives.
  • Support SEAL initiatives by helping drive a strong safety culture, employee involvement, compliance awareness, and leadership accountability throughout the facility.
  • Participate in site recognition programs and engagement activities that reinforce Newell values, PEAK principles, and SEAL expectations.

 

Principal Accountabilities

 

  • Partner with HR Business Partners and site leadership to execute business priorities, workforce strategies, and organizational development initiatives.
  • Ensure consistent interpretation, communication, and application of company policies, procedures, and employment practices.
  • Coordinate and support full-cycle recruiting activities, including requisition management, candidate screening, interviewing, and pre-employment processes.
  • Lead and facilitate new employee onboarding and orientation programs to ensure a positive employee experience and successful integration into the organization.
  • Support internal talent movement by facilitating internal candidate processes and promoting a positive employee experience.
  • Maintain employee records and personnel files in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and data privacy standards.
  • Process and maintain employee data changes within the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), ensuring accuracy and data integrity.
  • Support annual performance management and merit review processes, including preparation of reports, presentations, and supporting materials.
  • Assist with preparation of HR metrics, audits, reports, and workforce analytics to support business decision-making.
  • Provide support for Leave of Absence and Workers' Compensation administration, including employee communication and documentation management.
  • Conduct employee relations investigations and assist leaders with corrective action processes, documentation, and policy interpretation.
  • Support employee engagement, recognition, communication, and retention initiatives that promote a positive workplace culture.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and special projects that enhance HR processes, services, and employee experience.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as company policies and procedures.

 

Qualifications

 

Education

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

 

Experience

 

  • Human Resources experience supporting manufacturing, distribution, supply chain, or operations environments preferred.
  • Experience supporting hourly employee populations preferred.
  • Experience with employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, and HR administration preferred.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively with employees and leaders at all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, changing environment.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with professionalism and discretion.
  • High level of attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data to support business decisions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience working with HRIS and applicant tracking systems preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing exceptional customer service and employee support.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and adapting to changing business needs and priorities.
