Summary: The Injection Mold Process Technician monitors, troubleshoots and makes minor repairs on plastic injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment. They diagnose and make process changes necessary to keep product in specification and ensure quality product is being produced in a safe and efficient manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Observes all Safety policies and procedures as outlined within Newell Brands’ Safety Excellence and Leadership (SEAL) program.
- Drive success through the Company’s Planning, Engagement, Awareness and Knowledge (PEAK) continuous improvement program.
- Personally responsible for upholding the Newell Brands Values and the Code of Conduct.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area for compliance with Newell Brands’ Housekeeping standards.
- Startup/lineout machines and perform appropriate “First Part” activities for all mold changes, color changes, and job changes including appropriate paperwork and quality checks.
- Troubleshoot molding, quality, or mechanical issues to assure parts are manufactured to correct quality specifications, at correct cycle times, and labor contents.
- Perform preventative maintenance on molds including scheduled (daily or each shift) “in-press” mold cleaning and maintenance.
- Identify, tag, report, and communicate issues with molds, machines, and auxiliary equipment that do not meet efficiency, quality, or housekeeping requirements/expectations.
- Provide recommendations, solutions, and implement processes for continuous improvement.
- Complete all required documentation to record process changes, quality issues, downtime, lineout/startup times, on corresponding forms, technical reports, etc.
- Perform mold changes and auxiliary equipment for related equipment in a timely and efficient manner.
- Proficient in all safety and housekeeping requirements.
- Maintain team-oriented mindset and assignment flexibility with an approachable attitude.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to improve processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:
- Minimum of one-year stable and verifiable work history required.
- High school diploma/GED required.
- Must possess basic math and computer skills.
- Must possess good communication skills to ensure that clear and concise information is communicated as required.
- Must be able to read and interpret equipment manuals, document, and implement work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Must be a self-starter, self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Must be able to multi-task.
- Must be able to become certified on operating forklift, scissor lift snorkel lift and overhead crane.
- Internal applicant requirements: must be in current position for a minimum of 6 months and have no more than one corrective action on file within the past (12) months.
Desired Skills and Attributes:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of various plastic materials.
- RJG or Scientific Molding certification.
- Experience with robotic automation and auxiliary equipment.
- Basic knowledge of SPC (Statistical Process Control) and lean manufacturing.
- Experience with SMED (Single-Minute Exchange of Die)
- Ability to teach basic injection molding principles.
- Willingness to learn.
Education and/or Experience:
- 5 years’ experience in injection molding processing, mold sets, and startups.
- Tooling disassembly and repairs.
- Set up of processes for new tooling.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of issues. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

- Forklift License
- CPR Certificate Lockout / Tagout
