Position Summary
Leads maintenance operations across assigned shifts, areas, and technical disciplines to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment, utilities, and facility support systems. Accountable for workforce management, payroll administration, maintenance execution, employee development, equipment reliability, safety compliance, cross-shift communication, and continuous improvement.
Essential Responsibilities
• Lead daily maintenance activities and assign resources to production needs, emergency breakdowns, preventive/planned maintenance, project work, and improvement activities.
• Direct Maintenance Coordinators, Maintenance I/II Technicians, Industrial Electrician/PLC Technicians, and other assigned maintenance personnel; Maintenance Coordinators serve as hourly working leads while personnel management remains with this role.
• Enforce safety policies, PPE, housekeeping, SEAL safety practices, PEAK continuous improvement expectations, Newell Brands values, and the Code of Conduct.
• Audit work orders, labor reporting, troubleshooting notes, parts usage, corrective actions, repair documentation, inspection records, and follow-up recommendations for accuracy and completion quality.
• Partner with maintenance planning, PM supervision, production, engineering, quality, EHS, and plant leadership to improve PM completion, schedule compliance, backlog management, planned work execution, and reliability.
• Review downtime events, maintenance history, calibration/test records, technician feedback, and recurring failures to identify trends, lead root cause efforts, and reduce reactive maintenance.
• Manage payroll review/approval, attendance, overtime, leave requests, shift coverage, training records, certifications, qualification matrices, and labor efficiency.
• Coach, develop, recognize, and hold employees accountable; support performance evaluations, corrective action, hiring, onboarding, succession planning, skill gap closure, and cross-training.
• Oversee maintenance support for projects, equipment installations, repairs, upgrades, startups, contractor/vendor work, safety expectations, documentation, and project closeout.
• Maintain strong shift handoff and communicate equipment status, downtime concerns, staffing needs, safety risks, project updates, and resource constraints.
Qualifications and Technical Knowledge

Education / Experience • Associate/technical degree preferred; bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Maintenance Management, Business, or related field preferred but not required. • 7+ years industrial maintenance experience preferred; 3+ years maintenance leadership, supervisory, lead technician, shift coordinator, or equivalent experience preferred; equivalent education/training considered. • Manufacturing maintenance experience required; CMMS/Micromain, payroll approval, timekeeping, scheduling, PMs, troubleshooting, work order management, and project support preferred. |
Technical / Systems • Knowledge of electrical systems, PLC/control troubleshooting, mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, HVAC/chillers, facility support equipment, and applicable production equipment preferred. • Uses manuals, schematics, blueprints, drawings, SDS information, P&IDs, technical documentation, and equipment records to improve maintenance quality. • Microsoft Office required; Excel and Micromain preferred; SAP and AutoCAD helpful. Forklift license required or ability to obtain; electrical, PLC, EPA, HVAC, and welding certifications preferred as applicable. |
Physical Demands, Work Environment, and Expectations
• Must be flexible to work different shifts, weekends, overtime, and non-scheduled workdays as needed.
• Regularly stands, walks, sits, reaches, handles tools/materials, climbs/balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, crawls, talks, and hears; frequently lifts/moves 25 to 30 lbs. and occasionally lifts/moves up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
• Works in a manufacturing maintenance environment with potential exposure to moving parts, electrical shock, vibration, wet/humid conditions, heights, fumes, chemicals, weather, temperature extremes, and loud noise; PPE is required by task and area.
• Expected to be a visible floor leader who reinforces safe work practices, supports complex maintenance issues, improves execution discipline, develops the workforce, strengthens accountability, and drives measurable reliability improvement.
