Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Automation & Machine Building Technician to join our Engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing machinery design, construction, disassembly, and other engineering task. Additionally, troubleshooting equipment issues, and ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities. This role requires a focus on safety, strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.


Responsibilities:
•Perform routine and advanced maintenance tasks on advanced automation equipment (e.g. robots, etc.)
•Troubleshoot and repair manufacturing equipment, including mechanical, electrical, robotics issues.
•Design and fabricate equipment to specification, source components, construct prototypes, etc.
•Conduct inspections to recommend preventative maintenance solutions, prevent breakdowns.
•Maintain accurate records of engineering activities and repairs, coordinate and execute projects.
•Collaborate with other team members to repair, design, build, and maintain equipment.
•Support PEAK Continuous Improvement Activities.
•Follow site policies and industry standard safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
•Other items as directed by management.


Required Skills:
•Fabrication of mechanical systems, assembly, troubleshooting of automation equipment, including pneumatic, kinematic, hydraulic, and electromechanical systems, basic controls/electrical wiring (24VDC).
•Beginner in Robotics, Installation, programming, and maintenance of 3 & 6 axis robots, including EOAT design, basic maintenance, and safety zone configuration.
•Background with equipment design and fabrication, experience with component selection, DFM, design-quote-procure workflows, etc.
•Creation and interpretation of Mechanical CAD drawings (assembly & parts), and equipment specifications, recommendation of Preventative Maintenance and Troubleshooting Procedures.
•Project Management basics, budget keeping, component procurement, vendor selection, field proposals, organize project documentation.
Internal
•Conduct risk assessments in areas of expertise, lead safety reviews, and promote a culture of safety across mechanical and electrical domains.
•Support Continuous Improvement and Safety Initiatives by championing best practices and leading by example.


Preferred Skills:
•Welding and Machining experience, 3D-Printing, sheet-metal forming.
•Experience with 80-20 assembly, weldments, strength of materials selection, design-for-integration skills.
•Novice to Proficient in 2D, 3D CAD (i.e. Solidworks, CATIA, CREO, AutoCAD, DraftSight).
•FANUC Certification (HandlingTool, CRX Collaborative, ROBOGuide), FANUC Programming experience.
•Familiarity with PLC ladder logic, Safety PLCs, and SCADA/HMI platforms (Ignition, PanelView).
•Commissioning, Factory/Site Acceptance (FAT/SAT) Testing.
•Continuous Improvement, Lean Six Sigma, PEAK, Kaizen.
•Advanced Project Management (Schedule Management, Risk Assessments, knowledge of CapEx).


Qualifications:
•High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or trade school degree preferred.
•Minimum: 4-10 years prior experience working in Maintenance, Engineering, as a machine builder/integrator, machinist, or similar role.
•Strong demonstrable knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electric, mechatronic systems.
•Ability to read and write technical manuals and schematics.
•Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high flex environment.
•Strong communication skills, including reading, writing, and speaking basic English.

•Ability to sit, stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
