The position of Facilities Engineer is responsible for overseeing the design, maintenance, and reliability of critical facility systems and utilities—including chiller systems, air compressors, nitrogen systems, HVAC, and fire protection—across three manufacturing sites. This role ensures continuous operation, regulatory compliance, and energy efficiency while leading cross-functional initiatives and multi-site projects.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the design, maintenance, and reliability of chiller systems and air compressors across three manufacturing sites.
  • Support continuous operation and energy optimization of HVAC systems.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional site teams and external vendors to ensure uptime and compliance.
  • Lead multi-site projects involving facility upgrades, equipment lifecycle planning, and root cause analysis of system failures.
  • Develop and standardize preventative maintenance programs across all sites.
  • Analyze system performance data to drive operational efficiency.
  • Ensure all systems meet local regulatory and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with senior maintenance staff on various projects.
  • Maintain accurate facility records and prepare reports for management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership to support the overall needs of the team and company

 

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in facilities, mechanical, or reliability engineering within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with chiller systems, air compressors, nitrogen systems, HVAC, and fire protection/suppression systems.
  • Experience leading multi-site or cross-functional capital and reliability projects.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Facilities Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred; an equivalent combination of technical training and hands-on experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

 

Skills:

  • Working knowledge of NFPA fire alarm and suppression standards and applicable OSHA/EPA regulatory requirements.
  • Strong root cause analysis and reliability-centered maintenance skills.
  • Proficiency with CMMS platforms and the ability to analyze system performance data to identify trends and drive efficiency.
  • Ability to manage external vendors and coordinate across site teams to maintain uptime and compliance.
  • Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills.

 

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in manufacturing, distribution, and mechanical-room environments with exposure to noise, temperature variation, and moving equipment.
  • Must be able to access elevated platforms, mechanical mezzanines, and confined equipment spaces as required.
  • Travel between the three supported manufacturing sites is required.

 

“The Virginia base pay range for this position is from $84,000 to $115,500. Salary will be based on prior experience related to the skills required for this position.”
