General Responsibility
The Production Manager leads all plant‑floor production activities, ensuring adherence to budget, proper labor staffing, production schedules, and established quality standards. This role is responsible for delivering products at or below BOM cost expectations while driving performance in safety, quality, cost, and customer service. The position also ensures strong housekeeping practices and maintains compliance with 6S workplace standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure all safety and health standards are met to maintain an accident‑free workplace.
- Motivate, support, and guide production staff.
- Communicate regularly with plant leadership regarding any issues affecting production.
- Monitor machine performance and resources to maintain continuous production and minimize downtime.
- Balance productivity improvements with cost‑reduction strategies.
- Set and manage productivity expectations for each shift.
- Develop workflow policies and procedures that improve efficiency while maintaining safety and quality.
- Ensure effective staffing plans and scheduling of personnel.
- Analyze mechanical, technical, and process‑related production problems and implement effective solutions.
- Maximize machine OEE through consistent run‑time optimization and adherence to quality standards.
- Maintain housekeeping standards and ensure efficient use of plant space.
- Oversee daily operations through reports, staff meetings, observations, and direct interaction to ensure workflow coordination, schedule adherence, budget compliance, and efficient use of personnel, skills, equipment, and facilities.
- Coordinate major projects, equipment installations, repairs, overhauls, and layout changes for optimal economic benefit and timing.
- Enforce consistent communication of policies and expectations.
- Oversee programs essential to manufacturing success, including training, safety, housekeeping, work simplification, cost reduction, wage and salary administration, and security.
- Provide timely performance reporting on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis.
- Perform other management‑level responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications and Requirements
- BS in Engineering, Operations Management, or equivalent experience (minimum 5+ years as a Production or Operations Manager).
- Demonstrated success in improving safety performance.
- Proven experience creating, implementing, and achieving KPI targets.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and develop teams.
- Knowledge and application of production planning principles.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
- Ability to resolve employee issues, conflicts, and concerns.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to deliver presentations.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of equipment related to injection molding, blow molding, and/or profile extrusion.
- Financial analysis experience with 2–3 years in budgeting and cost analysis.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
