Primary Purpose of Position:

Overseas, structures, and monitors technical and operational training for the Winchester manufacturing facility, with primary responsibility for Injection Molding training and coordination of developmental training for Maintenance and Tooling/Mold Repair. Owns and improves the Skill Blocks pay-for-skill progression framework to provide transparent, objective pathways for operator advancement and technical compensation.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Process Training Architecture: Design, structure, and deploy hands-on and classroom training workflows for Injection Molding processes, setup, and machine operation.
  • Cross-Department Coordination: Partner with Maintenance and Tooling/Mold Repair leadership to coordinate specialized technical training, apprenticeship paths, and vendor-led instruction.
  • Skill Blocks Ownership: Audit, maintain, optimize, and expand the Skill Blocks tracker so technical progression criteria align with current machinery, automation, and plant safety standards.
  • Resource Development: Develop and standardize visual training aids, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and evaluation metrics for the production floor.
  • Pay-for-Skill Management: Serve as the primary gatekeeper for the Skill Blocks framework and ensure hands-on evaluations and signoffs are properly vetted before progression data is submitted to Human Resources for pay increases.
  • Database and LMS Administration: Maintain an accurate master database of training milestones, certifications, and compliance requirements.
  • Audit Readiness: Conduct routine checks of safety protocols, regulatory certifications, and equipment-specific operational signoffs to support facility audit readiness.
  • Leadership Metrics: Provide regular KPI reports to plant leadership on training completion, Skill Block advancement, and training effectiveness.
  • Trainer Supervision: Mentor, coach, and schedule designated shift trainers and subject matter experts to support consistent training delivery across all shifts.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Industry Experience: Experience with hands-on in a plastics manufacturing environment, including technical knowledge of Injection Molding operations.
  • Progression Frameworks: Demonstrated experience working with or managing Skill Blocks, pay-for-skill, or structured step-progression models.
  • Leadership Capability: One to two years of experience in supervision, program oversight, or a lead trainer capacity.
  • Software Proficiency: Strong proficiency with Learning Management Systems, advanced Excel-based databases, or enterprise systems such as SAP or Maximo.
  • Location: Ability to work fully on-site at the Winchester, Virginia manufacturing facility.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical Education: Certification or degree in Plastics Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical field.
  • Continuous Improvement: Experience applying Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methods to training frameworks.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information into clear, manageable learning blocks for a diverse workforce.
  • Coordination Skills: Proven ability to collaborate with technical teams, including Industrial Maintenance functions supporting automation, PLCs, and robotics, and Tooling or Die shops.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

  • Regular presence in manufacturing, technical training, and office environments.
  • Frequent walking and standing throughout production and support areas.
  • Exposure to manufacturing equipment, automation, noise, and other operational conditions.
  • Required use of appropriate personal protective equipment in designated areas.
  • Ability to support off-shift training or operational needs based on business requirements.

 

 

“The Virginia base pay range for this position is from $76,800 to $105,600. Salary will be based on prior experience related to the skills required for this position.”
