General Responsibility:

The Tooling Technician Performs routine and/or repetitive machining activities and creates, makes, repairs, various parts, molds or tools from blueprints, mechanical drawings or design sketches as needed by production or engineering. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Properly evaluate current tooling condition and take action to clean, replace worn components, check/adjust critical fits and check all functions to ensure success once put back into production
  • Properly performs detailed machining operations as assigned by department supervisor or his/her designee.
  • Sets machine up for operation according to blueprints, drawings, or design specifications.
  • Consults with Supervision, Engineering, Technical services, other machinist, regarding project requirements, and any other build or repair specifications or follow up is communicated to ensure successful completion of assigned projects.
  • Provides timely feedback to ensure minimal downtime and communicate any safety issues or possible improvements to processes, design, and the building or repairing of parts.
  • Transports and unloads material.
  • Proficient with using a computer for part searches, work order creation, and improve documentation around mold PM’s and repair.
  • Proficient in all safety and housekeeping requirements.
  • Performs other related duties and assignments as required.

 

Job Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Must have a minimum of three years of work experience or successful completion from a technical training school.
  • Must be able to multi-task
  • Must possess good communication skills to ensure the accurate and timely completion of documents, status reports as well as to provide follow up with others.
  • Must be a self-starter, motivated for change and improvement.

 

Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to work overtime as well as some irregular hours. This position will work in a reasonably clean production environment.  Due to working in a production environment, the exposure to noise is constant. Seasonal weather variations may result in frequent exposure to hot or cold conditions, particularly on the receiving floor and production areas where open doors allow exposure to prevailing weather conditions. Physical exertion such as pushing, pulling, kneeling or heavy lifting up to 45 pounds is frequent. The physical demand described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
